The problem is I have no passwords for anything on the mac. Thanks for your help everyone, but still no success. If I log out of my account will I be able to get back into it as I do not know the password or will setting up a new user account IE a new administrator login allow me to access the locked files and load on the new driver? If I reinstall the operating disc 10.6.2 will I loose all my files or will they stay in the shared users folder? I have an OSX 10.6.2 Install DVD and a Applications disc. If I do have to reinstall everything again I know I will loose a lot of software which was pre loaded onto my Imac when I purchased it. Will I have to reinstall everything again? Is there anyway to find out what the passwords are? I have saved all my files onto another hard drive and into the shared users folder as well. I have to load a new driver onto my system the for a new piece of kit I have for my studio but I have lost the password for my administrator login and my passwords to some files which I have on my system so I cannot load on the new driver or access the files.* I have not upgraded to the latest operating system as I am in the middle of many music projects and a lot of the software only works on 10.6 I purchased an Imac 3.06Ghz running OSX 10.6.2 which I have now updated to 10.6.8 about 3 years ago, the imac came with a lot of software. I was hoping someone could help with the following questions? I am not very tech minded so thanks for any help.
